Job Title: Community Impact Coordinator
Hours: Part-time, approximately 5 hours per week
Reports to: Pastor
Position Summary
NewStory Church is seeking a passionate and organized Community Impact Coordinator to help build and strengthen relationships with local community organizations and create meaningful engagement opportunities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about community building and collaboration.
As Community Impact Coordinator, you’ll work closely with the Pastor and leadership team to design and execute initiatives that foster relationships between NewStory and local organizations. You will also lead efforts to connect our church community to impactful local events and volunteer opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
● Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local organizations such as One Northside, Rainbow Railroad, Care For Real, and neighborhood associations. Develop and implement strategies to involve NewStory in their work and mission.
● Community Impact Teams: Organize and lead teams that liaise between NewStory and our community partners. Facilitate collaboration to ensure effective relationship-building and alignment on shared goals.
● Event Planning: Plan and oversee community engagement events, such as Kids’ Pride, block parties, Trunk or Treat, Parents’ Night Out, etc.
● Fifth Sunday Coordination: Organize and coordinate fifth Sunday community impact gatherings where the church service highlights the impact work NewStory is doing. This includes updating the congregation on community-focused initiatives, coordinating volunteer opportunities, and facilitating active participation.
● Diversity & Intersectionality: Assist in creating strategies to center diversity and intersectionality at NewStory.
Qualifications
● Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
● Passion for community engagement and building relationships with diverse groups.
● Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with teams and engage with a variety of stakeholders.
● Prior experience in event planning, community organizing, or church leadership is a plus, but not required.
Compensation
This is a salaried, part-time position with compensation of $25/hr for approximately 5 hours per week.
