He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” (Mathew 26:39)

Meditation

Jesus is driven to desperate prayer. Reflect on Jesus’ complete honesty and vulnerability in prayer. Jesus invites his friends to be present with him in his darkest hour. Is there something happening in your own life that drives you to such a desperate time of prayer? Whether you are experiencing it now or have at some time past what are the circumstances that contribute to these seasons? To whom could you turn to in desperate times?
